# EditToolInput

> Represents the input parameters for the Edit tool. The Edit tool performs exact string replacements in files.

## Summary

Represents the input parameters for the Edit tool.
The Edit tool performs exact string replacements in files.

## Remarks

The edit will fail if [EditToolInput.OldString](https://ai.easyaf.dev/claudeessentials/api-reference/CloudNimble/ClaudeEssentials/Hooks/Tools/Inputs/EditToolInput.md#oldstring) is not unique in the file,
unless [EditToolInput.ReplaceAll](https://ai.easyaf.dev/claudeessentials/api-reference/CloudNimble/ClaudeEssentials/Hooks/Tools/Inputs/EditToolInput.md#replaceall) is set to `true`.

Gets or sets whether to replace all occurrences of [EditToolInput.OldString](https://ai.easyaf.dev/claudeessentials/api-reference/CloudNimble/ClaudeEssentials/Hooks/Tools/Inputs/EditToolInput.md#oldstring).
